The Audubon House Museum & Tropical Gardens was established in 1960 by Key West native, Colonel Mitchell Wolfson, and his lovely wife Frances. They restored the elegant three level Captain’s home, which was built in the American Classic Revival architectural style of the mid 1800’s. The home was originally built by Captain John Huling Geiger, who was Key West’s first harbor pilot. Captain Geiger raised many children in the house, and planted beautiful tropical vegetation on the property. It was the beautiful plants which drew Audubon to it during his visit in 1832. Audubon took cuttings from the plants growing on the property, and used them as backgrounds in many works, including the White crowned Pigeon, which has the “Geiger tree” in the background.

In the rear of the house is a spacious, peaceful garden, where benches invite you to sit and reflect. There, you will see the only surviving Cook House in South Florida.

If you're looking for that iconic Key West Sunset or our Crystal Blue Waters in the background then Ft Zachary Taylor in Key West, is the perfect place for your elopement ceremony to take place.
Fort Zachary Taylor is a 54 acre park offering 4 reservable sites for weddings by the water or on the beach.
“The East Beach,” is nestled on white sand and tropical vegetation on the east side of the Park. The site is in the midst of Jamaican palms and lush sea grapes, which creates a secluded atmosphere for small or large groups.
“The Point”, this spot is located on the west side of the Park where the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico combine. It offers fabulous sunset views year round. Located at the entry of the Key West Shipping channel is always an active site with sunset boats sailing by, fishing boats coming and going and an occasional cruise ship passing, it is a breathtaking experience.

- Ceremonies in reserved locations are limited to 2 hours. Ceremonies must be held between 8am and sunset Eastern-Time. All ceremonies will end at sunset Eastern Time and everyone must promptly leave the Park.
All park visitors are required to leave the park immediately after sunset. In the event that the Wedding Party or any wedding guests do not leave the park in a timely manner and an incident report is filed by Park Rangers there will be a nonrefundable after hours fee charged to the credit card on file in the amount of $500.00.
Ft. Taylor is a carry in, - carry out park. Due to environmental concerns, balloons are not permitted nor is rice or confetti to be thrown, silk and or artificial flowers of any kind are strictly prohibited, this includes silk rose petals. Live bird releases are not permitted. Electricity is not available.
